The completion and sale of Bristol Together’s new build development on Staple Hill Road, Fishponds took place at the beginning of April 2021.
The scheme consists of 5 one-bedroom and 1 two-bedroom apartments on the site of a former mixed-use derelict building on the main street in Fishponds.
All the apartments were sold ‘off-plan’ to Brighter Places (formerly Southwest Solon Housing Association and United Utilities Housing Association ) for affordable rented homes in the Fishponds area and were completed on time and to a high standard.
The project enabled the employment and training of 5 recently released prisoners over a 15 month period. During their time on the project, these individuals were able to learn a range of building trades, including groundworks/ foundations, bricklaying, carpentry, plastering and decorating.
Paul Morgan, Bristol Together’s Managing Director said “This is our third new build development. Not only have we provided essential real jobs for ex-offenders committed to turning around their lives, over the last 3 years we have created 22 new affordable homes in areas of acute social housing need”.
